From the sandy yellow deserts to the rich green jungles, and from beautiful turquoise seas to the white snowy plains of the poles; our planet is a wonderful, colourful place. So, what if you wanted to visit a place based on your favourite colour? Red: Shanghai, China. Red is a very common theme in China as it symbolises good fortune and joy, and is used in many of their celebrations. Orange: Delhi, India. Orange is a sacred colour in Hinduism, although the entire religion is very colourful including a festival named Holi which is celebrated by in throwing paint around. How fun does that sound? Yellow: Giza, Egypt. I actually went here when I was younger and if there’s one thing about Giza that I remember it’s that it was about a thousand different shades of yellow. Of course this is mostly due to the environment, but it’s also important to remember there were 1,400 Gods worshipped in Ancient Egypt most of which were associated with the colour yellow. Green: St. Moritz, Switzerland. Switzerland is considered one of the greenest (that is, environmentally friendly) countries in the world. Of course, the landscape is also very green, even their homemade beverage Absinthe is green. Blue: Hyam’s Beach, Australia. The water in Hyam’s Beach is considered the cleanest in the world, and contrasts beautifully against the white sands. Indigo: The Indigo Lakes, USA. Indigo Lake, Alaska: 1.3 km across and 746 km above sea level, these lakes are named after their glorious colour. Indigo Lake, Ohio: A man-made, beautiful lake famous for it’s fishing and hauntings. Violet: Wisteria Flower Tunnel At Kawachi Fuji Garden, Japan. Wisteria is one of the oldest flowering kinds of trees in Japan and this garden holds 20 different species.
